Introduction to the Service Life of Harmonic Reducers

The global market for robot harmonic reducers is completely monopolized by foreign companies, which hold the power to set market prices and restrict the export of high-end products. Achieving high-speed ratios with harmonic reducers


Due to the different number of teeth in harmonic reducers, when the meshing point rotates a certain angle from 0°, the internal and external teeth cannot completely mesh. This can be explained by assuming that the internal and external teeth have the same number of teeth. When the wave generator rotates 90° causing the teeth at the 90° position to mesh, the original meshing teeth (internal and external) at the 0° position remain unchanged. However, since the two gears have different numbers of teeth, the internal teeth at 0° will rotate in the opposite direction with the wave generator's rotation.


Lifespan of robot harmonic reducers


The "lifespan" limitation of harmonic reducers has always been a technical bottleneck that many robot manufacturers and system integrators fear. Due to the high cost of robots, the lifespan of corresponding core components naturally becomes a key consideration for application companies.


The lifespan of robot harmonic reducers mainly has two aspects: one is the actual operational lifespan until the harmonic reducer is worn out, and the other is the precision lifespan, meaning how many hours the harmonic reducer can operate continuously before precision errors occur. Internationally, a harmonic reducer is considered qualified if it works for 6,000 hours.


Harmonic reducers are primarily used in aviation, aerospace, robotics, communication equipment, electronic devices, and medical equipment. The significant difference between the working principle of harmonic reducers and ordinary gear reducers determines that they have advantages that ordinary gear reducers cannot match.
